"Where is Skipper?" contest draws record response

TVO Kids viewers helped the characters on Gisèle’s Big Backyard find their missing friend Skipper this summer, during a nine-part science series developed in partnership with Let’s Talk Science.

The series excited and engaged kids and their families in explorations of nature and science through a series of online quizzes and hands-on activities they could do at home. Kids learned things like how to identify insects, the difference between caterpillars, millipedes and worms, that trees grow a variety of leaves, what caterpillars like to eat, metamorphosis, etc.

Judging by the huge number of entries to the show’s online contest, there were many families conducting their own explorations of the natural world. Just under 20,000 entries were submitted — a record response!

Understanding science is crucial for all to be able to take an informed and active role in our country's future.
